Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to provide a basic knowledge of the fundamental institutions of banking law, insurance law and specific aspects of the discipline of financial markets.
During the course, students are expected to acquire the analytical and interpretative skills to apply the institutions covered by the course to practical cases
At the end of the course, the student will have a precise knowledge of the course topics, will have acquired a method of reasoning suitable for addressing specific and complex legal problems in the field of banking law, insurance and financial markets.
Finally, the students will demonstrate legislative argumentative coherence, systematic rigor and command of language.

Course Prerequisites

No previous knowledge of this matter is requested.

Teaching Methods

Teaching will take place by means of frontal classes, during which interaction between the lecturer and students is encouraged (also via presentations and group homework). Learning through an interdisciplinary approach is also encouraged

Assessment Methods

The examination will take place through 16 multiple choice questions.

- The supervisory architecture in the UK
- The supervisory architecture in the US
- Principles of central banking
- Shadow banking
- Fintech, digital currencies
- Banking and sustainability
- Principles of financial regulation: key concepts and definitions
- Asset management law
- Investment services and activities
- Sustainability and finance
