Syllabus

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, the student will have acquired the basic knowledge to understand the functioning of construction and site logistics, with a special focus on procurement. In particular, the student will be able to apply methodological approaches and tools to deal with logistics problems in the construction sector. The course also aims to strengthen teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills through collaborative project-based activities.

Course Prerequisites

None.

Teaching Methods

Teaching will be carried out through traditional lectures in which the theory and main theoretical concepts underlying the various modules will be presented, classroom exercises in which case studies will be tackled through the application of the models seen during the lectures, and group work in which students will independently analyse and solve realistic problems with the tools provided in the lectures and exercises. Course materials include lecture slides, technical readings, and tutorials on QGIS. Additional resources and datasets will be provided on the e-learning platform.

Assessment Methods

The final examination of the course will be conducted orally and the assessment will be expressed in thirtieths. The examination will consist of the presentation of the case study developed during the lectures and two questions covering the entire syllabus in order to verify the acquisition of the knowledge imparted to the students during the teaching of all the course modules.

More information

The course includes application activities based on real cases and scenarios taken from active or recently completed construction sites, with the aim of connecting theoretical content with professional practice. Possible seminars held by sector professionals (project managers, site logisticians, GIS technicians) are also planned in order to offer a concrete view of the challenges and solutions adopted in the construction context. The course contributes to the training of a professional figure capable of integrating technical skills, digital tools (such as QGIS) and sensitivity to the optimisation of logistical processes in the construction sector.
