Syllabus

Course Objectives

Students will learn:

·       how to valuate a company using financial methods,

·       how to apply option theory to investment decisions,

·       how capital structure affects firm value,

·       the structure and characteristics of traditional and innovative instruments for raising debt and equity.


Course Prerequisites

For a fruitful participation in the course, it is essential that the student has knowledge of capital budgeting techniques, cost of capital and the CAPM, financial structure optimization, and financial statement analysis through ratios and cash flows. Participants are therefore encouraged to review or study these topics in advance.


Teaching Methods

Teaching will be delivered through lectures and practical sessions, encouraging direct dialogue and interaction with students. The aim of the practical sessions is to consolidate and apply theoretical concepts.


Assessment Methods

Learning assessment will take place through group work and a final written exam. The written exam will consist of multiple-choice questions, short open-ended questions, and exercises.

The exam rules are the same for both attending students and non-attending students. Therefore, non-attending students can also access group work as long as they are able to share the activity with the students attending.
