The assessment of the acquired knowledge and skills will take place on the basis of an individual written test on the topics covered within the module, and the assessment of a project carried out individually or in a group on the basis of a public presentation.
The project may be carried out in a company or in the University, and will be assigned by the lecturer to each student depending on the availability of company projects, the scientific consistency between the proposed topics and the candidate's profile, and the candidate's willingness to participate in company activities.
After a presentation on the evolution of manufacturing systems and the foundations of Industry 4.0, the course introduces the principles of designing and managing smart production systems, aimed at creating digital twins through the use of discrete event simulation. In addition, the course includes the development of maintenance planning for industrial plants, performance indicators (KPIs) for production process control and advanced scheduling techniques.
