Syllabus

Course Objectives

At the end of the course the student will have acquired in-depth and detailed knowledge of French literary and cultural history with reference to modernity and contemporaneity. They will also have developed the ability to contextualize and critically interpret the texts as well as the ability to create interdisciplinary connections.


Course Prerequisites

The course is intended for students in the second year of "Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures" who have in their study plan exams of French language and literature. In this case students need to have passed their Lingua Francese I exam.


Teaching Methods

Lectures with the aid of digital technologies and resources. Debate will be encouraged between and with students.


Assessment Methods

Oral presentation intended to verify:

- knowledge and literary issues engaged in the course;

- capacity of students to develop in Italian a critical argument on the

issues engaged with adequate references to the textes addressed;

- capacity of students to read all the texts in French and to translate them

into Italian.


Contents

Literature and justice.


The course aims to investigate the relationship between literature and justice in the French novel of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The analysis will highlight the intertwining of literary productions with the historical, social and political horizon as well as with the logic of the imaginaries.
