Syllabus

Course Objectives

As part of the general aims pursued by the LM, the course intends to pursue the following objectives:

- Knowledge and understanding: acquire critical and in-depth knowledge on leadership of proximity processes

- capability to apply knowledge and understanding: develop knowledge and understanding of the main theoretical and methodological references related to the innovative concept of leadership as relational, reflexive and ethical.

Specifically, the course aims to

- provide students with articulated and in-depth theoretical-conceptual frameworks for analyzing and understanding the evolution of the leadership conceptual construct;

- develop knowledge of the main constitutive dimensions related to an authentic leadership practice;

- acquire guidelines and coordinates for the use of some main methods and tools for a widespread and community leadership;

- develop trajectories of sustainability promoting processes of authority management.



Course Prerequisites

In the event of provisions of the competent authority on the containment and management of the epidemiological emergency, the teaching may undergo changes compared to what is stated in the syllabus to make the course and exams in line with the provisions


Teaching Methods

The teaching work involves the articulation and integration of teaching moments, case analysis and reading of experiential situations. There will also be exercises and simulations, selected visions of filmographic cards relating to the topics covered, testimonies of external interlocutors.


Assessment Methods

The assessment includes a final oral exam, based on the following criteria:

- articulation and quality of formal knowledge and specialist vocabulary

- ability to create links between theory and practice

- Critical processing skills

 

In particular:

For attending students, the evaluation criteria will focus on the acquisition of basic content, on the ability of critical processing and connection between the contents proposed in the texts and the material acquired during the course.

For non-attending students, the criteria will concern the acquisition of basic contents and their critical analysis and processing, with associations and connections between the various contents, referring to the bibliographic material indicated.

The final grade, expressed out of thirty, will evaluate the above knowledge and skills according to the following ranges:

- incomplete or insufficient knowledge and skills: less than 18;

- adequate knowledge and skills but not very thorough and with limited applications to situations and contexts: 18-22;

good knowledge and skills, adequately articulated and sufficiently applied to situations and contexts: 23-26;

excellent knowledge and skills, well articulated and solidly applied to situations and contexts: 27-30/laude

 


Contents

The course is divided into four parts that highlight theoretical and practical aspects of the interprofessional processes:

- unit 1: historical and evolutionary framework of leadership;

- unit 2: competences related to the practice of leadership of proximity;

- unit 3: recognition of the main levers of territorial and community leadership practice;

- unit 4: strategies for sustainable leadership.

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

1. use a basic glossary to distinguish and connect the main constructs related to leadership

2. analyze the main logic and ways of leadership practice

3. identify, describe and comment on the main aspects that characterize concrete aspects of territorial and community leadership;

4. shape hypotheses to support the development of participative social network among multiple stakeholders;

5. identify methods and tools of boundary management

6. acquire KPI for sustainable leadership.
