Syllabus

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, students acquire an advanced level of knowledge regarding the purposes and characteristics of administrative language also with regard to the main reference legislation. They are able to set up effective public and institutional communication that enables them to interact with citizens in a clear and inclusive manner. They are able to analyse and produce an institutional written text according to readability and comprehensibility parameters with reference to specific groups of people, also with the aid of specialised software.

Course Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of Linguistics.

Teaching Methods

The course will be conducted by means of frontal lessons, with particular emphasis on confrontation and dialogue with the students, who will be stimulated to recognise the possibilities of applying the notions presented during the lessons to the analysis of the reality that surrounds them. More specifically, a first part of theoretical lectures will be followed by a practical part, the main objective of which will be to simplify various administrative-bureaucratic texts.

In the e-learning area of the course, the slides presented in the lessons will be made available, as well as various texts on which to practise simplification and inclusiveness.

Assessment Methods

Learning is verified through a written examination.

During the examination, you will be asked both to demonstrate knowledge of the concepts covered during the course and to be able to simplify administrative-bureaucratic texts. The test is deemed sufficient if a mark of 18/30 is achieved.
