Syllabus

Course Objectives

At the end of the course the student will have the ability to critically read and interpret texts belonging to the literary tradition and to the languages of mass society (journalism, communication, advertising); will know the relationships between literary language and the language of mass communication, with reference to the cultural context of production and historical evolution; will possess skills that will allow him/her to independently analyse texts of great complexity and rhetorical-stylistic density and to present the results of investigations with clarity and terminological pertinence; will be able to recognise the dynamics of cultural communication and the differences in communication strategies, especially on the web.

Assessment Methods

Oral examination with evaluation in thirtieths.

The test will focus on the presentation of the salient features of one of the narrative texts chosen from those in the bibliography and on the verification of knowledge and skills relating to the historical-theoretical part of the course.


Contents

The course will focus on the history of the literary web (blogs, magazines, social media...) and on the theoretical and critical nodes emerging from the encounter of literary writing with the digital universe. Passages from literary works that first incubated on the web will also be analysed punctually.
