At the end of the course, the student possesses a body of knowledge regarding the historical
evolution of the document and the archive; the theoretical principles of archival doctrine; Italian legislation on the protection and enhancement of archival heritage; and digital tools for archival management. This knowledge enables the development of skills in the area of archival heritage management and enhancement.
Basic knowledge of the history of Italian institutions and public law.
The course includes lectures, visits to archival institutions, and practical exercises.
The assessment of acquired skills will be carried out through an oral exam. A rating scale out of 30 will be used as follows:
A. Scores in the range of 18-22 will be set for:
- Sufficient understanding of the topics covered during the course;
- Limited ability to information processing;
- Sufficient communication skills, particularly in the use of specific language in the field of archival science.
B. Scores in the range of 23-27 will be set for:
- Fair understanding of the topics covered during the course;
- Fair ability to process information;
- Fair communication skills, particularly in the use of specific language in the field of archival science.
C. Scores in the range of 28-30 will be set for:
- Good to excellent understanding of the topics covered during the course;
- Good to excellent ability to process information;
- Good to excellent communication skills, particularly in the use of specific language in the field of archival science.
D. Honors will be awarded for excellent knowledge and applied understanding of the program, together with excellent analysis and communication skills.
The course covers the following topics: the history of archival science and archives; legislation and regulations concerning the protection and promotion of archival heritage; records creation and archival formation, with reference to the digital context; archival arrangement and description; projects for the promotion and enhancement of archival heritage.
