At the end of the course, the student should have acquired the ability to navigate the main issues in the history of objects, with particular reference to the medieval period. The student will thus develop the ability to critically approach the historicity of objects. In this way, the student will be able to critically read medieval documents aimed at enhancing the medieval material heritage, including in archival and museum valorization projects.

Lectures and seminars
Oral exam and presentation of written report. The results will be expressed on a scale out of 30.
The course analyzes the history of objects and material culture in the Middle Ages, starting from a broader theoretical framework of studies on objects and material culture. Part of the course is dedicated to the analysis, including seminar-style sessions, of archival documents, with particular attention to inventories and the relationship between objects described in written sources and the labour relations that produced them. An additional section of the course will be dedicated to the analysis of research and digital valorization projects of archival and museum materials, including international projects and presentations in English.
The programme is different for attending and non-attending students. Bibliographic indications can be found in the Leganto section of the course.
Erasmus students and students with PDP or PEI are invited to contact the lecturer at the beginning of the courses.
The professor's communications to the students on the course will take place by e-mail via the e-learning area, to which all students should therefore promptly subscribe.
