Upon completion of this course, students will have developed a comprehensive understanding of a company and acquired the foundational knowledge necessary to comprehend the dynamics governing business management. Through this knowledge, students will be able to identify and select strategic corporate objectives, organize key business functions in alignment with these objectives, and understand how internal governance and external stakeholder work together to drive value creation. Students will also develop the analytical skills to evaluate corporate performance and implement governance frameworks that balance multiple stakeholder interests while maximizing long-term organizational success.
No prior knowledge or specific prerequisites are required for this course.
The course will be delivered through frontal lectures, with particular attention to discussion and direct dialogue with students. Throughout the course, meetings with professionals will be organized to provide deeper insights into management topics covered during classes.
Assessment consists of a final written examination structured with 15 multiple-choice questions and three open-ended questions. Each correct answer to the multiple-choice questions receives 1 point, while incorrect or unanswered questions receive 0 points. Open-ended questions are evaluated on a scale from 0 to 5 points each. The examination is considered passed with a minimum score of 18 points.
The course examines the fundamental forces regarding business management and corporate governance. Content is organized around three primary internal governance forces: management, shareholders, and boards of directors. The course also addresses significant forces including government and legal frameworks, employees, competitors, suppliers, service providers, strategic partners, communities, and customers. Key topics include establishing business goals, aligning managerial incentives to achieve strategic objectives, measuring performance effectiveness, and implementing adaptive management systems to ensure corporate operations result in long-term value creation.
Non-attending students will be able to access the course e-learning page where they will find all necessary teaching materials for independent study, including lecture slides. The exam structure and evaluation criteria will be identical for both attending and non-attending students. However, in-person attendance is highly recommended, as it represents an important support tool for better understanding the course content.
