Course Objectives

The main objectives of the course are:

1. Reconstruct the philology of the genesis of modern societies understood as prerequisites for the formation and development of the category of change.

2. To understand the notions of change and transformation declined in a sociological sense, in the light of the most established classical theoretical categories and the most advanced frontiers of contemporary debate.

3. Describe and analyze the main social phenomena that characterize the processes of change in the societies of advanced modernity.

At the end of the course, students will be able to move with critical autonomy in understanding and evaluating the main dynamics of transformation of contemporary social formations in which the personality of individuals and the life of groups take place.

For attending students, active participation in class, contributions to assigned cases and exercises—including group work—will also be taken into account.
