Syllabus

Course Objectives

1. Analyze demographic trends from an economic perspective.

2. Examine the economic and social challenges linked to demographic trends

3. Assess the socio-economic impact of interventions/policies that may affect demographic trends

4. Measure inequality and analyze its main consequences.

5. Examine the relationships between demographic dynamics and socio-economic development, with particular reference to the role of institutions.

Teaching Methods

The course is held in the form of formal lectures with interactive sections and debates.

Students are expected to actively participate.


Assessment Methods

For attending students the evaluation is given by: In class activities (50% of the final mark) and a final written exam (50% of the final mark). The group assignment will be presented in a workshop at the end of the course. The final test will consist of 3 open questions

For non-attending students: final written test.The test will consist of 4 open questions.
