Syllabus

Course Objectives

At the end of the course the student acquires an in-depth knowledge of the elements, of the institutes and of the fundamental principles that regulates private law in main themes, as well as an analytic and interpretative method that enables the student to act through them with sufficient awareness.


Course Prerequisites

The basic prerequisite for a profitable attendance of the course and generally for the study of the subject is a good knowledge of the Italian language. A proper education as well as classical and/or scientific studies can help in a quicker learning of the subject.



Teaching Methods

Frontal teaching. Some in-depth study seminars on explained concerns as well as practical exercises on analyzing relevant leading cases are also foreseen.



Assessment Methods

The examination is oral. The evaluation is expressed in 30ths. Examinees will be tested through open questions on single matters of the course. Answers, as a whole taken into account, will have to show an at least sufficient and not limited knowledge of the topics of the course.



Contents

Private law will be widely taken into consideration in its different institutes and fundamental divisions, mainly following the contents of the civil code, except for the matters concerning commercial law (business and companies) and labour law. Subjects, framework of the sources, of the rights and of legal transactions, real rights, notions on legal deeds, contracts in general and single contracts, obligations, successions, liability, family law will be the themes object of the course.

Attendance is strongly suggested for a deep learning, as it gives the chance of a dialogical approach to the subject, through a direct opinion exchange with the professor. When studying, regular and constant consultation of a quite updated civil code is also recommended. The familiarity with the latter should not be less than the one developed with the chosen textbook.
