The course is aimed at ensuring a full understanding of the basic institutes of Roman private law, in close connection to the development of private law in Civil Law countries.
The goal is to introduce the student to the study of contemporary private law with a critical and historical approach, in order to ensure a full and effective understanding of the matter.
A minimal skill in legal-historical analysis.
Lessons using power point slides. The interaction between teacher and students is strongly encouraged, in order to maximize the effectiveness of the lessons. The teaching materials related to the lessons will be uploaded on the e-learning platform.
There will be tutoring activities to support students: the purpose of these activities is essentially to develop a full understanding of the matter and to help students who are eventually in trouble preparing the exam. A special focus will be reserved to the learning of legal lexicon.
Oral examination at the end of the course. The exam will be structured in order to verify the acquisition by students of the required knowledge and skills.
The course is focused on the basic elements of Roman Private Law, which, given its influence on the formation and development of European Law, continues to be a key element in legal education. With a comparative and historical approach, teaching will be focused on the following themes: sources of law, family law, theory of juristic acts, law of contracts and obligations and rights in rem.
