Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to achieve knowledge of the ways in which, from the nineteenth century to the present day, philosophical ideas have been variously conceived as objects of history.

At the end of the course the student will be able to consider these issues and problems in relation to:

the theoretical needs of our time;

an adequate historical perspective capable of offering significant elements of contextualization and understanding;

historical-philosophical terminology and philosophical and historical methods;

the ability to critically analyze texts, in particular philosophical and historiographical ones, including the competence in the use of the relevant bibliographic tools



Course Prerequisites

It is not necessary to have prerequisites for admission.


Teaching Methods

Lectures.

Individual and planned analyses of primary bibliography texts.


Assessment Methods

Exam will be in oral form on the whole program. The dialogue will be constructive of knowledge, which will be an example about what is the collective construction of knowledge.

The evaluation will be expressed in thirties.


Contents

Genesis of the idea of happiness within eighteenth-century European philosophical culture.

Critical analysis of the idea of happiness within contemporary philosophical historiography on the Eighteenth century.
