Basic knowledge and critical skills about the political, economic and social evolution of East-Asia and of Indian Ocean World, with a focus on China, Japan and India geopolitical situations, and on Euro-Asiatic relations.
Basic knowledge of history from Medieval period to Contemporary age, which can be acquired using a good secondary school textbook.
Lectures, critical discussion on the points touched during the course.
Assessment of the knowledge acquired through a written test (3 open questions, 10 points per question).
Some important political and cultural features on Indian Ocean States and on East and South Asian traditional societies, and their relations with Western powers, between 16th and 20th centuries.
