Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to provide students with all the knowledge and tools to understand cultural projects (their subjects, objects and territories) and develop the skills necessary to operate in this area.

At the end of the course the student will be able to design and manage cultural projects also in view of looking for funds and use different strategies in cultural projecting, focusing on the dynamics of interaction with different stakeholders in public and private contexts and on the involvement of public bodies.

 


Course Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for access to the course. 


Teaching Methods

Teaching will consist in lectures during which reference will be made to the exam texts, integrated with other bibliographic sources (non-compulsory for the final exam) and with video or print documents. Teaching will be implemented also by guest lectures by professionals in the field. During the lessons particular attention will be paid to the dialogue with the students, who will be able to respond to the proposed topics of discussion or formulate requests for further study or debate. During the lessons there will also be moments of teacher-led work and teamworks aimed at the development of specific areas of expertise.


Assessment Methods

Assessment is based on a written exam with three open questions, to be answered in 1h. The objective of the exam is to verify the knowledge acquired by the student, his/her critical skills and the ability to structure a correct text in Italian. The evaluation criteria include: completeness and relevance, clarity of the argumentation, language skills, the ability to synthesize and re-elaborate the questions, grammatical and syntactic correctness, richness of the exposition.

The test must be taken in the same session of the "Sociology of Culture" module. To pass the exam, it is necessary to obtain at least 18/30 in both tests. The final grade is given by the average of the marks of the two tests and will be published in the students' digital portfolio.


Contents

The course will have a practical-applicative nature and will offer methods and tools useful for cultural planning. Public and private fundings will be analysed; from the project idea and design to the project management.

• The phases of cultural planning (idea, design, development, management and organization, evaluation of the cultural project)

• The subjects, objects and territories of cultural planning

• Planning and funding sources (local, national, European funds)

• City and week festival as a model of cultural planning

More information

The program for those attending includes participation in the course and the development of group work as well as the study of a reduced version of the course reference texts in order to pass the written test.

The program for non-attending students includes the study of the reference texts of the course in order to pass the written test.

If the teaching is taught in mixed or remote mode, changes may be introduced with respect to what is stated in the Syllabus, aimed at making the course and exams also usable according to these methods.
