Syllabus

Course Objectives

In both the public and private sectors, as well as in international institutions, it is crucial to understand and assess whether the implemented policies or programs have produced the intended effects. The course will provide students with the opportunity to learn key theoretical concepts and methodological tools to conduct rigorous impact evaluations. At the end of the course, students will be able to select the most appropriate method given the policy or program at hand, and conduct and interpret the results of causal impacts for a wide variety of policies and programs.

Course Prerequisites

None.

Teaching Methods

Lectures, in-depth studies, and class discussions on current issues to understand the relevance of the theories presented during the course. Some lectures will be specifically aimed at deepening the use and interpretation of data and statistical indicators related to the topics covered in the course.

Assessment Methods

The exam will consist of a written test including true/false questions, multiple-choice questions, and open-ended questions.

The test aims to verify the understanding of the models and the ability to use them to interpret the facts characterizing the international economic system.

In addition to the written test results, there will be an option to complete an in-depth group project.
