abstract:
The knowledge of the characters Hamlet and Don Quixote and of their authors in Russia it happens by the middle of 18th century. The author of the first important study on these two characters, "Gamlet i Don Kichot" (1859), is Ivan Turgenev. In this article he establishes a parallel between Hamlet and the Russian intellectuals of aristocratic origin of the ‘40s, and between Don Quixote and the democratic intellectuals of the following generation.
