abstract:
Following the opportunities given by a law on school institutions’ autonomy, the Liceo Scientifico “Roiti” in Ferrara established, in 2003, a sport course. The curriculum, created through a participatory planning, has been focusing on the role of the body and corporeality as “organizers” of the entire educational path thus giving a frame to sport and PE studies and practices. Cooperative learning, inter and transdisciplinarity have been playing a prominent role from a methodological viewpoint. The main subjects have been PE, Philosophy, and Science.
The chapter summarizes the meaningful history of the course, now counting 450 students enrolled, describing the curriculum, the organization, the educational paths, and ends discussing the connections with the scientific literature and highlighting paths for further researches.
