abstract:
"Guerra del '15" by Giani Stuparich is a diary that documents the days from June 2 to August 8, 1915 and that tells the first approach of the Stuparich brothers with the senseless brutality of the war on the front of Monfalcone. Modulated on a linear writing and attentive to the surrounding reality, the pages of Stuparich are therefore the anti-rhetoric daily chronicle of the war "fatigue", tempered only by the strong desire to see Trieste again - to return, like Ulysses, to its "Ithaca" - and to be reunited with the mother, with family affections and with that civil and moral homeland of which the Julian capital is a symbol and metaphor.
