abstract:
In the years of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s training, the reading of the novels written by Emilio Salgàri expands the Friulian and Cremonese countryside into an imaginary space in which the young man takes refuge whenever he has the opportunity. These texts, which contain the topos of travel to distant countries, give rise to a real “marine syndrome” in Pasolini. The essay explores its characteristics and the underlying motivations, investigating, through the examination of the Pasolinian texts and searching the references to Salgari contained in them, the complex poetical and educational relationship that binds the two writers.
