(2019). Le geografie salgariane di Pier Paolo Pasolini [journal article - articolo]. In NUOVA SECONDARIA. Retrieved from http://hdl.handle.net/10446/153354
abstract:
The attempt to find a space not yet consummated by technocratic and bourgeois degeneration leads Pasolini,
from the 1960s onwards, to look towards the «Third World». Africa, India, Yemen become the center of a new
literary and cinematographic project on which to set up a cultural revolution against the advance of
globalization. A look that brings Pasolini closer to Emilio Salgàri, whom the poet had read and loved in his
youth: both capture the contradictions of modernization dynamics and propose an exotic alternative "alterity",
which presents elements of resistance to the engulfing Western society, but it is also theater of the irrational, of
the archaic and, therefore, of the poetic.
