The 1996 Hague Convention on the Protection of Children

After a brief introduction on the 1996 Hague Convention on the protection of children from an international law perspective, the essay deals with the provisions governing the determination of the law applicable to parental responsibility matters, this being an aspect that is not governed by EU instruments of private international law (in particular, the Regulation (EC) No. 2201/2003, so-called Brussels IIa).
