abstract:
Andrea Potestio rethinks the link between theory and practice in a pedagogical key, formulating the socalled principle of "alternanza formativa". His effort lays the foundations of a “pedagogy of work”, as it helps, on the one hand, to go beyond the old prejudice which considers theory more important than practice in the learning process understating the educational value of work, and, on the other, to reveal the inconsistency of many interpretations of work and training which ignore the fundamental link between theory and practice. Only when teachers will be aware of that – pedagogy’s task is to warn them in this sense – the tools of work-based learning will be also able to promote an authentic education. This is exactly what recent studies on “boundary crossing” suggest. Is it not an implicit confirmation of the principle of alternation?
