abstract:
The aim of this paper is to offer a reconstruction of the theological-political question in the thought of Remi Brague. To do that it is necessary to discuss two major topics in his works: the nature of divine law and the nature of secularization. Brague presents a deconstruction of the theological-political question by considering it as a particular instance of the ‘teio-practical’ question. In this perspective, political theology is understood as a philosophical approach focused on the interpretation of the political dimension and motivated by the acknowledgment that every political system needs to be legitimated by some kind of truth that is beyond any human control or possession. When humanity refuses to acknowledge that truth or to appropriate it (as it happens in Modern times), the paradoxical consequence is the alienation of human beings.
