(2022). A Disciplinary Body is a Disciplined Body [journal article - articolo]. In NUOVA SECONDARIA. Retrieved from http://hdl.handle.net/10446/209349
abstract:
The body is a key player in cultural discourse (the zero point of the world) but is marginalized at scholastic level. Despite the debate about corporeal turn and the call for a somatic society, the body, at school, is confined in Physical Education (PE) classes or object of study: ultimately an absent presence whose docility is pursued. The body remains a good for consumption even after the raise of the digital control that has flanked the social control historically organized through the restriction of the spaces. Nevertheless, we will not witness a bodyless school: the pandemic has reinforced the body present presence, the sport – with distortions – and health systems need PE, a pedagogical, sustainable, culture in PE can enhance students’ autonomy. However, the simple democratization of PE leaves the body in a gilded cage. A genuine bodily democracy can be pursued focusing on well-being, referring to eudaimonia, opening to porosity thus respecting person’s minimal phenomenology.
