The emphasis on the relevance of tacit knowledge for employees’ and companies’ development can be misleading. In order to share this important asset, a rational dialogue between novices and experts is always needed. Therefore, also a connection of the knowledge embedded in the workplace practices with the explicit knowledge codified outside the company and transmitted by educational institutions. This is confirmed by a review of the literature which has recently dealt with the training processes within apprenticeship.
