Development of an holonic metamodel for lifecycle support and product extension

The paper summarizes the effort spent by the authors in developing a model to enable product traceability along the entire product lifecycle and fostering product extension. The research effort adopts an holonic definition of the product and, analysing the current most important standard in product representation, proposes a reference data model.
