abstract:
Potentiodynamic and potentiostatic polarization tests were performed in an aerated chloride solution on specimens laser powder bed fusion printed with different building platform temperatures. Potentiodynamic polarization tests showed two break-down potentials for the polished specimens. The first was associated with the initiation of corrosion localized on the edge of the melting pool, while the second with the breakage of the passive film of the matrix. On the specimens with the surface as built, these two potentials are practically superimposed and lower than the respective polished specimens. No differences were observed between the breakdown potentials of the specimens as a function of the temperature of the building platform, while the time to trigger the selective attack in the potentiostatic tests increases as the plate temperature decreases.
