The article starts from the reflection given in
Simone Regazzoni's recent volume, Ocean. Phi-
losophy of the Planet
, and explores the idea of
thought not only as a contemplative departure
from experience, but also as a way of accompany-
ing and living experience. "Earth thinking" is in
opposition to "oceanic thinking," a dualism em-
bedded in human nature that has always been
faced in the philosophical tradition. Pedagogy,
having humans as its "objects" of study, is driven to
recognize the complexity and originality of every
experience and to reflect on the transformative
aspects of existence. More than the other scienc-
es, it is configured as "oceanic living," precisely be-
cause of its nature as a deep act of immersion in
the flow of educational/formative transformations.
