Dopo Matteotti. Giuseppe Lombardo Radice e l'eredità gentiliana

The essay intends to reconstruct Giuseppe Lombardo Radice's gradual process of internalisation of the figure of Giovanni Gentile: a process that has its roots in the years of the pedagogist's discipleship of his teacher, but which is charged with profound significance especially in the years following 1924, when personal relations broke down between the two. Lombardo Radice thus meditates a real Gentile myth, 'his' Gentile to contrast with the real Gentile and his political choices. This myth thus comes to represent a terrain from which he continues to draw food for thought and at the same time the inheritance of the pre-nineteenthcentury intellectual journey and, above all, of the school reform passed in 1923.
