abstract:
From classical antiquity to the Twentieth century Rome has always been an inexhaustible source of reflection and inspiration for writers who lived there or for those who visited following the recall of one of the many factors constitutive of his greatness and his fame: politics, faith, art and architecture. These authors have captured images of the 'eternal city' to extolling the wonders or to lament the decline, to exalt the glory or to condemn it as space of every civil and moral corruption. This book deals with the Roma in the lyric works of Carducci, D'Annunzio and Pascoli. Through analysis of several texts in which these poets have drawn the image of the city, this book wants to rebuild and give prominence to an important moment in the long and not yet complete history of Rome as a literary theme.
