The concept of the Triple Bottom Line has emerged as a fundamental framework in sustainability literature, providing a holistic approach to organizational success that extends beyond traditional financial metrics. Coined by John Elkington in the 1990s, the TBL introduces three interconnected elements-economic, social, and environmental-which collectively redefine the parameters of corporate responsibility and performance. This entry delves into the foundational elements of the Triple Bottom Line, examining the unique contributions of each dimension and the collective impact they wield in fostering sustainable practices within organizations.
