Boris Pasternak was not only one of the greatest Russian translators of the 20th-century, but also translation theorist that expressed his opinions in some articles in which he demonstrates his belonging to the school of "free" as opposed to that of "submissives" translators, to use terms coined by P. Vyazemsky in the early 19th century.
