This paper reflects on the initial education of early childhood educators for kids between 0 and 3 years old. It will compare the models currently adopted in Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. This comprehensive comparison should provide an insightful glimpse into the issue, suggesting a well-informed new direction for a possible enhancement of the training pathways in Italy, also taking into account the fundamental core of this profession.
