Verso una voce italiana per Maniger klaget attribuito a Wolfram von Eschenbach: criticità e proposte traduttive

This chapter builds upon Maniger klaget’s translations by Edwards (2004) and Heinzle (2021) to analyse the poem – often classified as dubious within the corpus of Wolfram von Eschenbach’s lyrical works. It also seeks to provide a translation of the opening stanza of the Lied, which has never been translated into Italian, while addressing key interpretative challenges and proposing new readings. The chapter traces the restitutive process of the text through its different stages of development: from (1) a working translation to (2) a rendition in a line-by-line structure, mirroring the hypotext closely, and (3) culminating in an attempt at a poetic translation in metre
