abstract:
In this contribution, which comments on Tommaso Morawski's book "Mappe della ragione. Kant e la medialità dell’immaginazione cartografica"(2024), the aim is not to outline once again why Kant attributes the possibility of human progress solely to the spiritual-rational sphere of existence and not to the natural-sensible sphere defended by Herder, but to “investigate the effectiveness of diagrammatic forms of writing in connection with the history of concepts”, passing through the “paperiness” of philosophy. With the support of Friedrich Kittler's thinking, who in his lectures in Berlin in 1999 traced the history of media from the Renaissance to contemporary computer graphics, we can also understand how German Idealism, thanks to Kant's contribution, structured a philosophical path - proposing an alternative to the classical history of philosophy - in which communication takes on a central role thanks to its reference to optical media.
