Abstract:
What is violence? What is post-violence? Why do we need to have this conversation, right here, right now? What can posthumanism contribute to the changes we want to experience? Resisting polarisations enhanced by mainstream narratives lies at the very core of this chapter, which was developed along the format of an entangled multilogue. The original conversation that provided the baseline for this work occurred between Francesca Ferrando and Sümeyra Buran during the conference Representations of Violence in Literature, Culture and Arts, organised by the Osmaniye Korkut Ata University, Turkey, 22nd October 2021. The conversation, which arose out of the need to address difficult questions, such as the reality of war, radicalisation, and bioterrorism, unfolded real answers that underlined a common thread: we are in this together. Violence is a shared experience that we can change, right here, right now. The need for this type of reflection later resonated with Stefano Rozzoni, who edited this conversation into the present text and wrote the Preface. The pluralistic nature of this multilogue develops through collective reasoning and personal storytelling.
