The present essay examines Ercole Tasso and his relationship with the impresistic tradition in the sixteenth century. It then considers in greater detail his treatise, Della Realtà, et perfettione delle imprese, in which he defines the concept of the impresa and analyzes previous writings on the subject, often adopting a polemical tone.
