abstract:
The volume edited by Xavier Dumay, developed within the TeachersCareers project, examines the teaching profession amid European and global shifts in educational governance, highlighting the structural nexus between teacher policy and teacher labour markets. It highlights the structural nexus between policy and labor markets, comparing France and England to show how liberalization reshapes access, career trajectories, and professional attractiveness. A key contribution is the distinction between the precarisation of employment and of
work, capturing deep transformations even where contractual frameworks appear stable. The book ultimately advocates context-sensitive policies that coherently link training, recruitment, stability and the overall quality and sustainability of teachers’ work
