Il gioco e le sue definizioni dal 'Dictionarium iuris' al 'Comentum' a Dante di Alberico da Rosciate

This study proposes to investigate the concept of play in the works of Alberico da Rosciate, a jurist from Bergamo. We will focus on his Dictionarium iuris (covering civil and canon law) and his commentary on Dante, particularly the first tercets of Purgatorio VI. Alberico’s work exemplifies a dialogue among various disciplines, including law, literature, the arts, and philosophy, all framed within the concept of play, or “ludic” space, which has been significantly influenced by Aristotle’s idea of eutrapelìa, or the virtue of playfulness.
