abstract:
The paper tries to reconstruct the main initiatives carried out by the young father Angelo Roncali during the episcopacy of mgr. Giacomo Maria Radini Tedeschi, which firstly led him to promote the newborn catholic female movement in Bergamo. The research of unpublished documents has allowed to revalue the contribution of the future pope Giovanni XXIII to the launch of the Scuola Magistrale di Religione in Bergamo and the activities of the local Unione fra le Donne Cattoliche d'Italia, whose Roncalli was the ecclesiastical assistant. In particular, it has shown the profile of a young priest involved in the development of the female catholic apostolate, throuthout an intense action of cultural, religious and moral education of woman, at the beginning of XX century.
