He is Associate Editor of Nature Digital Medicine.
He is a member of the Doctoral Boards of the PhD programmes in Technology, Innovation and Management (TIM) and Health and Longevity at the University of Bergamo.
He is Senior Research Fellow at IN+ – Center for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research, Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon.
He maintains a long-standing collaboration with CHERA – Consortium for Higher Education Research in Asia (University of Hong Kong).
He serves as an evaluator for the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF).
Since 2021, he has been a Permanent Member of AGIFORS (Airline Group of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies).
RESEARCH LEADERSHIP AND COORDINATION
He is the scientific coordinator of high-impact national and regional research projects in the fields of digital health, emergency medicine, and complex systems.
Within ANTHEM – Advanced Technologies for Human-Centered Medicine (PNRR – Complementary Funds, 2022–2026), he serves as Scientific Coordinator of two four-year projects on:
• Digital triage in emergency departments;
• Wearable devices for remote monitoring of frail and Parkinson’s disease patients.
He is Unit Coordinator of the inter-university project Emergency Medicine 4.0 (Universities of Bergamo, Pisa, and Padua).
He coordinates the scientific collaboration with AREU Lombardy on emergency-system efficiency and the deployment of UAV (drone) technologies for medical rescue.
TEACHING ACTIVITIES
He carries out continuous teaching activity in courses on:
• Economics and Organization of Firms,
• Healthcare Organizations Management,
• Finance and Business Valuation,
across undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and executive programmes.
He strongly promotes the integration of education and practice through internships, applied projects, and partnerships with healthcare organizations and public institutions.
SCIENTIFIC OUTPUT
He is the author of approximately 50 Scopus-indexed scientific publications, with internationally recognized contributions in the fields of:
• digital health and healthcare systems management,
• operations research and decision support,
• science and higher education policy,
• transport and mobility systems.
AWARDS, HONOURS, AND SERVICE TO THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY
He has received international awards for scientific contributions in operations research and transport systems (ATRS, JPSM, EJOR Editor’s Choice).
He regularly serves as a referee for leading international peer-reviewed journals in management, healthcare, innovation, and science-policy studies.
