Syllabus

Course Objectives

By the end of the laboratory, students will be able to:
- analyse case studies concerning pupils with disabilities, identifying educational needs, resources, barriers and facilitators to participation;
- identify possible instructional adaptations, inclusive methodologies and strategies aimed at ensuring access to learning activities and active participation for all pupils;
- analyse the coherence between the functioning profiles presented in the case studies and the examples of Learning Units, with particular reference to learning objectives, methodological and instructional choices, and assessment criteria;
- critically reflect on the proposed examples of Learning Units, formulating hypotheses for inclusive redesign.

Course Prerequisites

The course is carried out in close coordination with the theoretical course in Didactics of Integration.

Teaching Methods

The laboratory involves the adoption of a group-based laboratory teaching approach, with objectives identified and shared with students on a case-by-case basis in relation to the activities to be carried out, discussion among participants, and a concluding synthesis provided by the tutors. The set of outputs produced by students within the laboratory will then be critically and summatively reviewed by the tutors during the final session, in order to provide an effective synthesis of the learning achieved and to foster greater awareness of the skills developed.

Assessment Methods

No specific assessment will be applied, except for the effectiveness of participation in group work.

Contents

The laboratory pathway will focus on the analysis of case studies concerning pupils with disabilities and on guided reflection on examples of Learning Units designed from an inclusive perspective.
The proposed activities will be structured around:
- analysis of the educational needs, resources, barriers, facilitators, and opportunities for participation of the pupils presented in the case studies;
- evaluation of the coherence between the functioning profiles illustrated in the proposed cases and the Learning Units analysed, with reference to objectives, methodological and instructional choices, adaptations, and assessment criteria;
- critical reflection on the links between individualised planning and classroom planning;
- analysis of selected teaching methodologies and strategies aimed at fostering access to the curriculum, active participation, and learning for all pupils.
The laboratory will provide the basis for critical reflection on the Learning Units developed by students within the T4 curricular internship, with the aim of identifying possible forms of adaptation and redesign capable of promoting the active participation of each pupil.
