Syllabus

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, students will be familiar with the fundamental principles, methods, and tools of adult education, with particular attention to initial and continuing training services, professional development, and career retraining. Moreover, by interweaving their personal and professional experience with the texts studied, they will have developed a clearer critical awareness of the pedagogical foundations that guide educational, instructional, and organizational choices addressed to adults or young adults within formal, informal, and non-formal educational contexts (especially in post-secondary and tertiary VET courses and within employment services).

Course Prerequisites

None

Teaching Methods

The course will be structured with moments of lecture-based teaching and discussion sessions, during which students will be encouraged to reflect on the texts and connect the pedagogical content to their personal and professional experiences in educational settings. Teaching materials used during the course will be made available on Moodle, along with instructions for assigned activities and any additional bibliographic references for further study.

Assessment Methods

The teaching/learning process will be continuously monitored through feedback and reflective responses from students during and at the end of each lesson. A single final examination is scheduled, with an approximate duration of 90 minutes. The evaluation criteria will include: relevance and completeness of responses; accuracy in the use of concepts and the specific vocabulary of the discipline; correctness in spelling, syntax, and semantics; personal and critical re-elaboration of the content. Exclusively for attending students, it will be possible to take a midterm written exam during the final part of the course. The result of this test (if positive) will be taken into account in the final grade evaluation.
