Syllabus

Course Objectives

Introducing the student to the developments of musical taste in the main social and cultural contexts of the last three centuries through listening and analysis of short compositions. Orienting to the predisposition of educational paths of music listening.

Course Prerequisites

Specific requirements not requested.

Teaching Methods

Lectures, use of audio and visual materials.


Assessment Methods

Interview concerning the topics studied during the course and in the course texts. All students must present and discuss a path of the didactics of listening on a piece of music among those indicated by the teacher.


Contents

The contents of the module concern:
– the main structures of the musical language and their expressive value
– the styles and forms of the music for children in modern and contemporary music and in current media contexts
– the creative and teaching implications of the new technologies in the field of music
– the social and intercultural functions of the music
– advanced elements of the education to musical listening and of the didactic plan of music listening paths.
– Suggestions for developing interdisciplinary connections.
