The course intends to teach to the students how to develop a detailed seismic design of a r.c. building. To this end, the course program is based on the following subjects: advanced issues in the design of reinforced concrete structures; seismic design of reinforced concrete structures. The students must prove to master the detailed seismic design of a reinforced concrete building. To this end, all of the students must develop the detailed design of a r.c. building under both standard and seismic-actions, preparing both the design report and the construction drawings and reinforcement details of all the main structural elements of the building. At the end of the course, the students will be able to design and detail a r.c. structures under both static and seismic actions.
Course Prerequisites
Students must have basic knowledge of reinforced concrete design and of structural dynamics, and of seismic design of structures
Teaching Methods
Lecture and tutorials in classroom and meetings with a tutor during the development of the design assignment.
Assessment Methods
The exam is based on a discussion of the student’s project and an oral exam, finalized to assess the comprehension of the subjects studied.
