Syllabus

Course Objectives

At the end of the training module the student: a) masters a general model of clinical psychology intervention capable of founding professional practice in the various intervention contexts; b) knows the fundamental concepts of planning professional intervention informed by psychological criteria; c) gain an initial ability to interpret problems and intervention contexts in view of the definition of the objectives of professional action and the development of the client; d) develops an initial ability to interact with the client in order to develop the appropriate intervention setting.


Course Prerequisites

Basic knowledge in Psychodynamics, Clinical Psychology, and Psychopathology.

Teaching Methods

The training module consists of classes conducted in a dialogical and experiential way: students will be proposed to actively partecipate through discussions of clinical cases, video material, and excerpts from original writings of the authors, an intersubjective comparison with their own experience of the subjective phenomena examined, and applications of the psychodynamic models and concepts to specific contexts.


Assessment Methods

Assessment of the objectives achievement of is conducted through an oral examination, which provides a final mark (max 30/30 cum laude, pass 18/30). The test is unique for the two training modules of which the course is composed and aims to assess the understanding of the main psychodynamic concepts, the ability to use them for an informed professional positioning and the competence to intervene in professional contexts on the basis of a psychodynamic understanding of subjectivity.


Contents

Epistemological foundations consistent with the object of study and intervention of the dynamic psychology; theories of the relational mind consistent with the epistemology of complexity; methods of intervention in the wide variety of fields of interest related to the psychological function (organizational, institutional, educational and social, group, community, individual contexts, ...); theory of demand analysis as the founding theory of the psychological change and intervention, and of the relation with the client.

More information

Given the technical and professionalizing nature of the training module, only students enrolled in a Degree Course in Psychology can attend and take the exam, as indicated in the Deontological Code of Italian Psychologists (Article 21).

In order to foster an experiential and not only theoretical learning, it is highly recommended to attend lessons, although it is not mandatory and necessary for passing the exam.

Non-Italian-speaking and non-attending students may contact the instructor to discuss activities and strategies to support learning.
